Following a series of injuries from lifting too much with poor form, I decided enough was enough. I set out to find a gym offering a friendly training environment with a strong focus on lifting technique. Pardon the cliché but the moment I stepped foot in Better Body I knew I’d found the place!
I started training with Joe and was immediately impressed with his knowledge and expertise. Within the first few sessions my form was significantly tidier, I felt much safer lifting heavy weights off the floor and he also addressed weak areas in terms of my mobility and flexibility. The benefits from training with Joe have been far reaching and go beyond lifting weights in the gym. I no longer endure neck pains during my desk-bound day to day job. This is largely from being far more aware of my posture and learning how to keep my spine neutral and abs engaged in a range of daily activities.
We recently completed a training programme where I lost 10kg of body fat whilst more or less maintaining strength across all my compound lifts. Joe was instrumental in this being a success. As well as putting together a bespoke training and nutritional programme which slotted right into my lifestyle (accepting blokes my age quite like beer at the weekends) he also went the extra mile by answering various queries over Whatsapp. Ultimately my requirements were listened to and the programme focused on the lifts and exercises I enjoy. I also can’t thank him enough for all the positive vibes and motivation along the way.
I’d like to take this opportunity to put a huge shout out to the entire Better Body team. I’m so grateful to be part of this family friendly community. I’m always made to feel welcome and whether I step foot in the gym early in the morning or after a stressful day at the office, I always leave with a big smile on my face!
