Since my teens I have had a passion for Sport & Exercise Science, and learning about the human body and how it can be repaired, improved and optimised through exercise. I love working with people, and couldn’t resist the opportunity to apply my knowledge in a way to help others improve their quality of life through rehab, fat loss or functional training for performance.
2. What are you training for right now?
I have a couple events with clients coming up. A Tough Mudder obstacle course race in September and my first Half Marathon in October. I am also a keen cyclist also. The majority of my strength training is achieved through Kettlebells, bodyweight training and calisthenics.
3. What is your area of specialty?
4. Are you currently following a nutrition plan?
Green Face. With Nutrition I like to keep things as simple as possible and not exert too much mental energy stressing and planning food. Of course there are times that nutrition needs to be strictly controlled for fat loss or in preparation for an event. But normally Green Face will do. Was it once green, or did it have a face? If not, DON’T EAT IT!
5. If you could only use one exercise for the rest of time what would it be?
The Kettlebell Swing. This is a fantastic exercise to get you using your posterior chain – an all too common area of weakness in today’s ‘deskbound’ society.
6. Other than yourself who is your favourite trainer at BBG?
James Allen. He was my mentor when I joined the gym and has taught me so much and influenced my practice in so many ways. He was extremely welcoming when I arrived, showed me the ropes and continues to look out for me a year later. Very knowledgeable and has a great style of training. Highly recommended.
I would have to say that the best looking however is Chris Wharton. He is almost too handsome. I would just love to look more like him….
I’m a big geek at heart and spend 99% of my reading time online looking at articles in peer reviewed Journals, or written by influential fitness professionals and bloggers.
8. If you could only give one piece of advice to your clients what would it be?
Ordinary things done CONSISTENTLY produce EXTRAORDINARY RESULTS
Regularly I take; Glucosamine (joint health), fish/krill oil (omega 3’s and fatty acid), Zinc (immune support), vitamin B12 (energy), vitamin D (bone, joint and muscle health) and 5 HTP (mood and sleep pattern)
10. What is your favourite cheat meal?
