This is a great exercise for back and arm strength you can do in any gym. Due to its angled body position, this type of pull up will increase the activation of the muscles between the shoulder blades (rhomboids) and the lower (inferior) part of the trapezius muscles, as well as working your latissimus dorsi and arm muscles. Great exercise if you struggle with pull ups or if you want to increase training volume.
Technique:
– grip: shoulder width apart, overhand grip, hold the bar firmly
– pull the shoulder blades back and down
– squeeze the trunk and gluteals, contract the body like a plank
– start the position with arms fully extended or slightly bend
– head neutral
– begin with flexing the elbows, until your chest is at the barbell
– breath out
– control the downwards movement until you are back in the starting position and repeat
Enjoy practising!
