Weight loss shouldn’t be our only goal when it comes to exercise. Our goal should be optimum health for our overall wellbeing. Discussing your physical needs with a personal trainer will help you to goal set and achieve this. Great results are not necessarily reflected by the number staring you in the face on the scales. Watching the scales go down can be motivational but there are plenty of other reasons why exercise is paramount, a stronger, healthier and more energetic you is just the beginning.
So what should our health goals be?
- Overall health and wellbeing has to be at the top of the list. Without this it makes our day to day routines harder. Breathlessness when walking up the hill, fatigue, general aches and pains are all symptoms of a body that is not functioning to its full potential. A simple overhaul on your diet and exercise routine could make all the difference.
- You may be training for a race and need a programme that is tailored to specifically to endurance.
- If you are losing weight, but in the wrong places then talking to a professional trainer would be a perfect solution. We would all like to target one or two specific spots but our bodies do not work that way unfortunately. Major changes to your body shape will not happen overnight. Once you have discussed your needs with a trainer they will incorporate exercises that can target specific areas, saddle bags won’t just disappear, but that bumpy appearance will reduce and become more toned with regular exercise and a healthy diet.
