Worried about gaining weight over Christmas?

Don’t be!

Firstly, Christmas is about enjoying time with family and friends, getting a little merry but certainly not dieting. I personally won’t be buying any low-fat cheese boards regardless of the fact that low fat cheese is practically pointless anyway. The point is, Christmas is a time for family’s not physiques, but if your health is your main priority then I’d argue that stressing over how many calories are in your Christmas pudding, is not particularly healthy. But if you are still worried you’ll play that Santa role a little too well by the end of the holidays I have some good news for you; gaining weight from a few bad meals is really quite hard.

If we go by the rule that 1lb of fat contains 3500 calories (which is fairly accurate) then to gain 2lb of fat you would need to consume 7000 calories. That’s on top of your original maintenance calories, which in total adds up to a fair amount of food

Here is how you should approach the holidays; Continue to train hard, if you really do want to see how much weight you CAN GAIN over the holidays, then an increase in calories and a decrease in movement is a shore fire way to achieve this.

To summarise – don’t feel guilty about enjoying your Christmas, TRAIN, EAT, DRINK AND BE MERRY.
