We all like a bit of saucy gossip so here’s some for you!
YOU could be consuming between 200-400 cal extra per meal without even really knowing it or correctly tracking it – what am I talking about? That’s right, sauces.
I had an epiphany the other day in the kitchen whilst cooking and realised the sauces I added to my red chilli and salad burger totted up to a staggering 253, unnecessary, calories! Absolute madness, I know!
If fat loss is your goal then this could be a helpful tip to assist you in sticking to your goals and ensuring you maintain a calorie deficit (not a calorie surplus) thus ensuring you stay on track and hit your fat loss targets.
Healthy food doesn’t have to be boring and tasteless; it can be tasty, exciting and appealing. This will ensure better coherence and sustainability. You can use low calorie sauces such as soy sauce, tabasco, yellow mustard, wine vinegar, horseradish, lemon juice the list goes on. That’s not to mention spices such as salt, pepper, paprika, crushed chilli etc. These can make a hugely significant difference to the taste of a meal which is imperative to how you perceive your diet and can also help ensure that you actually like it.
Take home point:
- Make sure you track and understand what you’re eating (calories) by keeping a food diary or using MyFitness Pal
Use low calories sauces and spices to literally spice up your meals without adding extra calories, which will give you loads more variety and sustainability
