With the New Year comes new opportunities and the pressure of resolutions. Fitness-based resolutions are at the top of everybody’s list, whether you’re a seasoned gym-goer or first timer in the gym. Trying to become a ‘better’ version of yourself in order to achieve these objectives tends to take over, and having ambition is great! However, in order to prevent burning yourself out and faltering before February, training has to remain sustainable.

Find a routine that works for you and stick to it. Small, achievable goals should be set at regular intervals to ensure you’re making progress, with an action plan in place in case you don’t hit a target (it’s never the end of the world). Ensure there is variety in your training and don’t be afraid to experiment to find out what you enjoy doing most. This is key as training shouldn’t always feel like a chore, or you’ll simply not get the most from the time and effort you put in.

Without preparing appropriately, your sessions will not be optimal and those goals will start to become even harder to achieve. Fuel yourself properly and remember perspective is key-one workout won’t make you, but one can definitely break you. Listen to your body, prepare properly and enjoy your training!
